Privacy notice

Shades of Blue Lifestyles (Pty) Ltd (registration 2013/185990/07) is the responsible party for personal information collected through www.shadesobl.co.za. We process it under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

• Quote requests, enquiries and site-inspection bookings: name, company, email, phone, site location and address, and what you tell us about the job.
• Supplier pack requests: name, company, work email, phone and role.
• CV registrations: name, contact details, town, trade, experience and the CV you upload.
• Reviews: your name, email, company, town, rating, your answers and any video you send. We publish your name, company, town and review or video only after confirming it with you and never publish your email. Ask us at any time and we will remove it.
• Technical data: your IP address is checked by an anti-spam service when you submit a form. If analytics is enabled, anonymous usage statistics are collected.

Why we use it

• To respond to your request, inspect your site and quote.
• To match job seekers to roles our clients need filled.
• To keep records required for our business and by law.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for direct marketing without your consent.

Who processes it for us

Form submissions are stored in a secured database (Supabase) and delivered by email (Resend). The website is hosted on Netlify. If you choose to talk to Blue, our AI voice assistant, what you say is processed by xAI, which may be outside South Africa, to answer you. Photos you add to our AI visualiser are sent to xAI in the same way to make images and any video you ask for; we keep them only if you then ask us for a quote. These operators may store data outside South Africa under contractual safeguards as permitted by section 72 of POPIA.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries and quotes: up to five years, or as long as needed for the contract and tax records.
• CVs: 12 months from registration, unless you ask us to remove them sooner or are placed with a client.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or object to its processing. Email info@shadesobl.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
